Ben Shalom Bernanke, commonly known as Ben Bernanke, is an Economist who currently chairs Federal Reserve, United States’ central bank. Bernanke was “the lucky one” who had to deal with consequences of financial crisis which started in the late 2000s. Before entering this position Ben chaired the department of economics at Princeton and was a professor at the same university. He entered the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System in 2002 and since then has made a great influence on the way in which this institution views the influence of business cycles. In 2005 he was appointed to chair George W. Bush’s presidential Council of Economics. Ben was born in Georgia, in a family of Philip and Edna Bernanke. His parents were a typical middle class people: Philip was a part-time theatre manager and pharmacist, while Edna was a teacher at the local school. Ben was the first child in a family and has two siblings: a brother, Seth, and a sister named Sharon. During his childhood Ben used to spend afternoons with his maternal grandpa Harold Friedman, who has taught the boy to speak and write in Hebrew. His former roommate is currently known as the founder of The Goldman Sachs Group, a multinational investment banking firm, which also engages in global management and other financial services. Goldman’s current fortune makes Ben Bernanke net worth look like a pocket money: according to some trustworthy sources, Sachs holds assets worth some $450 million.
